Omega Psi Phi awards scholarships to high achieving students

Nashville, TN - Members of the Gamma Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. celebrated the accomplishments of two deserving high school students at a scholarship reception held in their honor. The annual scholarship reception was held on May 15, 2010 in the Faculty Dining Hall of the Floyd-Payne Campus Center at Tennessee State University.

Omega Power Twenty Monthly Prayer Conference Call
In March 2010, Gamma Phi chapter initiated a new benevolence program called Omega Power Twenty, a monthly prayer conference call for members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. The intent of the program is to allow an avenue for men of Omega to dwell together in unity to pray. All members of the fraternity are invited to participate.

Memorial service for Brother Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks will be held on Tuesday evening April 20, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Greater Baptist Church in Memphis. The address is as follows:

Omega Day on Capitol Hill
Nashville, TN - Members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. descended on Capitol Hill on March 17, 2010. The event was an opportunity for the fraternity members to gain more information on the activities of the legislature, especially as they pertain to the African-American population.

Omega Day on the Hill
The time again is approaching for the 3rd Annual Omega Day on the Hill, where brothers descend upon our captial to voice our concerns and show that black men are still a substantial voting force in regards to issues in our community. The attached letter outlines the event and we are expecting 100% participation from all Tennessee Chapters. In regards to the Kentucky brothers who understandly have no interest in Tennessee legislation, your participation is also welcome in that to view how our event is conducted.

Three Local Students win 2009 Annual Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Writing Contest
The essay contest focused on th the topic: How has President Obama Influenced Your Career Goals and Aspirations? In the award winning essays, the three students related the importance and impact that political leaders who serve as role models have on the aspirations and philosophies of young adults. President Barac Obama's rise encouraged the students to 1.) Believe in themselves, 2.) Leave an unfaltering legacy, 3.) Reach their full potential, 4.) Dedicate their lives to benefit others, 5.) Overcome obstacles of life, 6.) Inspire political awareness and involvement, 7.) Discard political stereotypes that prevent participation in the political system, and to 8.) Engender a philosophy of YES I CAN in carer planning. Each winner has made plans to attend a university of higher learning in the fall of 2010.

On February 21, 2010 The Omega Lambda Lambda Chapter presented a Black History Program at St. Phillip A.M.E. Church. The theme of the program was "Making a Difference in the Lives of Black People."

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Days of Care for the Less Fortunate
On four occasions during December 21 and December 22, 2009, the brothers of Theta Omega Chapter braved the cold and provided food for at least 800 people who live in the local community. Additionally, a banquet was also held for less fortunate members of a local YMCA. Our efforts reflect our deep concern for fellow citizens and our philosophy on giving.
