Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. (Chattanooga Chapter) to host Annual Achievement Week
Chattanooga, TN -- The Kappa Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will celebrate its Annual Achievement Week Banquet November 13th at the Chattanooga- Hamilton County Convention & Trade Center. Over several years KI Chapter has had noteworthy Omega Brothers as featured speakers at the occasion. Dr. Benjamin Hooks (civil rights), Major General Charles F. Bolden, Jr. (astronaut), Dr. David Satcher (16th US Surgeon General) to name a few. This year's featured speaker is Commissioner James Donald (Major General retired, US Army). Achievement Week is observed in November of each year and is designed to seek out and give due recognition to those individuals at the local and international levels who have made a noteworthy contribution toward improving the quality of life for black Americans.
Omega Psi Phi
is an international fraternity and was the first African American national fraternal organization to be founded at a historically black college. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity was founded on November 17, 1911, at Howard University in Washington, D.C. by three undergraduate students and one faculty advisor. The founders were Howard University juniors Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper and Frank Coleman. The first faculty advisor of the Fraternity was Dr. Ernest Everett Just, who early on was accorded the status of founder by the three undergraduates.
